Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Associate Director
for Online Teaching and Course Development, the LMS Design Support Specialist
is principally responsible for supporting the Office of Online Programs with
the implementation and maintenance of online courses developed in alignment
with NJIT's Quality Assurance in eLearning Rubric, ensuring that courses are
prepped for delivery each semester. Additionally, the LMS Design Support
Specialist will manage course content, working closely with other members of
the Office of Online Programs and faculty to ensure that course materials are
up-to-date and aligned with learning outcomes.

Essential Functions:
- Address faculty requests to update
existing courses in ServiceNow, ensuring that Canvas Master Courses continue
to meet accessibility and quality standards.
- Prepare OOP Canvas course shells
for delivery each semester and track the status of online program courses as
they are prepared for publishing.
- Maintain accurate records of course
updates, design decisions, and project progress, and report regularly on
project status and timelines.
- Contribute to the development and
maintenance of instructional design templates, guides, and other resources to
support faculty in course design. This includes revising existing Master
Courses to reflect changes that are made to the Canvas template.
- Collaborate with other members of
the instructional design team to ensure that courses are developed and
delivered according to established quality standards and guidelines.
- Assist with the administration of
surveys and other assessment tools to gather data on course effectiveness.

Additional Functions:

Work with instructional designers to implement their engaging and
interactive online learning activities, assessments, and other instructional
materials as needed.
- Keep current with
emerging technologies, new products, methodologies, pedagogy, theories,
applications, and trends.
- Provide support to the
university community in the implementation of emerging technologies to support
the creation and maintenance of teaching and learning spaces.
- Work on specialized
projects and other duties as assigned.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-
This position requires a bachelor's degree in education, instructional
design, or a related field.
- Expertise with a learning
management system, eLearning tools, and other technologies.
- Attention to detail and
strong organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work
well in a team environment.
- Demonstrated creativity
and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and
written communication skills.
- Familiarity with digital
accessibility standards (general ADA requirements).
- At
the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be
exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the
university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with
Canvas, Panopto, or similar digital education delivery systems.
