Job Description

6000! This is the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. The Biologics Center (NBC) is accommodated within NIBR. NBC, in collaboration with the disease areas and technical expert groups, builds the future biologics therapy pipeline of Novartis through the discovery and creation of new antibody, protein, nucleic acid and virus-based molecules.

We are in search of a motivated Scientist with a background in oligonucleotides therapeutics to support our RNA interference (RNAi) platform at Novartis Biologics Center (NBC). As a key contributor in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in the development of RNAi platforms to address challenges to overcome efficacy, safety, delivery and stability.

Your key responsibilities:
* Define and execute best experimental practice to support in vitro screening capabilities, validate on-target efficiency and off-targeting evaluation of siRNAs.
* Perform lab work (in vitro) to deliver highest quality of experimental science.
* Develop independently in vitro assays to characterize distribution and activity of conjugated siRNAs.
* Explore new technologies and find creative solutions to optimize current platform.
* Handle large data set analysis such as RNA-Seq and proteomics is a plus.
* Collaborate across project teams and departments to leverage internal know-how.
* Analyze and collect experimental data and present * scientific interpretation in project team meetings.
* Participate in the evaluation of new methods and technologies

Minimum requirements

What you'll bring to the role:
* B.S./M.S. with a degree emphasis in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related. B.S. with a minimum 6+ years, M.S. with 4+ years related experience.
* Proficiency in mammalian cell culture and primary cell culture.
* Hands-on-skill in multiple molecular biology assays including qPCR, ELISA, and functional assays.
* Detail-oriented and well-organized with the ability to thrive in a team and be comfortable working on and prioritizing multiple projects.
* Proficient in English (written and spoken).

Desirable:
* Knowledge in antibody and conjugation to validate chemical properties.
* Previous hands-on experience in automation robotics.
* Track record of accomplishment work in the field of RNAi.
* Experience in the automation in discovery and lead optimization workflows.
* Experience in data analysis and NGS (bioinformatic skills considered advantageous).
* Experience with FACS
