Position description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Riverside (https://www.physics.ucr.edu/) invites highly qualified experimental physicists to apply for an Academic-year tenure-track faculty position in the fields of Particle Astrophysics, Cosmology and Gravitational Waves.

Candidates should possess a record of demonstrated excellence in research. The successful candidate is expected to establish an outstanding and well-funded research program involving graduate students and postdoctoral scientists, and to contribute to departmental teaching at all levels. We are initiating a new experimental group at UC Riverside to augment and complement ongoing efforts in particle physics and astronomy. We are seeking independent researchers, who will build significant on-campus research efforts involving undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs on the forefront experimental programs in this general area of physics. We anticipate that individual hires may work together or on different experimental projects. We seek individuals with strong academic promise, who can build significant research efforts at UCR in forefront areas that will complement existing programs in our department.

Candidates for this position are required to have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics or a related field. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, a statement of research and teaching objectives, a statement addressing the candidate's past and potential future contributions to promote academic diversity and arrange to have at least four referees submit their letter of recommendation directly via the AP Recruit site

at https://aprecruit.ucr.edu/JPF01536.

For inquiries regarding the position, please contact the search committee Chair, Prof. Barry Barish (barry.barish@ucr.edu). For inquiries regarding the application process, please contact Kendall Dunmore-Balderrama (kendall.dunmore@ucr.edu).

Review of applications will commence on April 12, 2022 and proceed until the position is filled. For full consideration, applicants must submit their complete applications by the above date.

Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input. Minorities and members of underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.
