PRCS- Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs

Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Trip Assistant position, in our Adaptive Recreation program. The Adaptive Recreation program provides individuals of all abilities the opportunities to enjoy traditional recreation activities, as well as new experiences through leisure exploration and are designed to meet the individual needs of participants.

Duties of the Trip Assistant include but are not limited to:

• Assisting individuals with disabilities during Adaptive Recreation community-based programs and activities
• Provides supervision and personal care as needed, including administration of medication and behavior management
• Driving a passenger van for transportation to and from activities

Please include all applicable paid or volunteer experience working with and/or supervising individuals with disabilities in a care, recreation or educational setting. Hours vary with each program/activity and include weekday, weekend and evening hours.

Salary Commensurate with Experience

• Requires education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
• Valid driver's license required
• Certification in First Aid and CPR for adult, infant and child
• Negative TB test result required prior to beginning work
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred and must be indicated on application

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession of a commercial driver's license (CDL), Class C with Passenger endorsement is preferred, but not required for employment

• Successful candidates will undergo criminal, credit and DMV background checks
• Valid driver's license required
• Provide results of a negative TB test
• Have or become certified in First Aid, CPR for adult, infant and child within 90 days of hire
• CDL position must comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees
