About the opportunity

We are seeking a high-caliber Senior Cloud Engineer who will work with Ellucian's Cloud team. This is an opportunity for the candidate to play a critical role in supporting SaaS products, developing our cloud infrastructure, automation frameworks, monitoring, and logging strategy. The ideal candidate is a high-performance engineer, a forward thinker, and has substantial experience in DevOps, ideally at a SaaS company. We are looking for someone with a strong desire to deliver the best solutions by being innovative and contributing to our culture of a leading cloud software company.

Where you will make an impact

  • Ensure availability and performance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM-based technologies including SQL Database, IIS Website, Windows Server, ERP and eCommerce integration, and any required technologies in support of the Ellucian eCRM suite.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance based on Ellucian and industry standards
  • Support for client issues including but are not limited to performance, communication, networking, integration, and application.
  • Understanding the underlying deployment of the entire Dynamics CRM solution including but not limited to Application, Database, Web Server, Active Directory, Internet Facing Deployment, ADFS, and Single Sign-on
  • Working closely with the Development teams to develop and maintain the Cloud Supply Chain frameworks, technologies, and feedback tools.
  • Coding CI/CD pipelines with a strong understanding of our product's architecture and cloud infrastructure aiming to accelerate delivery and drive down costs.
  • Ensuring that each phase of the Cloud Supply Chain from development to QA, to staging, and into production is fully automated, as frictionless as possible, utilizing CI/CD.
  • Coding infrastructure changes utilizing Infrastructure as Code ensures they are architected to implement 99.9% uptime and enable elastic scalability.
  • Ensuring information security best practices and policies are implemented in your designs.

What you will bring

  • 5+ years experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Reporting Services, IIS, Dynamics CRM, AD, and ADFS in a 24x7x365 operational environment with contractually defined SLAs
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with AWS deployments, Azure, or GCP
  • Proficient in a scripting language like PowerShell (preferred), Ruby, Python, or Java
  • Experience with performance analysis and optimization using Datadog, CloudWatch, AppDynamics or NewRelic
  • 1-3 years' experience working with web servers and web application development (Tomcat, Apache, IIS, Nginx; Tomcat)
  • Knowledge of ADFS and SSO
  • Collaborates with the team to brainstorm technical challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for driving Continuous Improvement
  • Understanding of cloud technologies such as virtualization, storage, and network domains in a cloud service model

Desireable Skills

  • Experience with automation and orchestration using tools like Jenkins, Artifactory, Bitbucket
  • Experience designing and implementing continuous integration, continuous delivery DevOps solutions
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code like Terraform (preferred), Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Python, Lambda
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Familiar with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements
