Job Title: Equipment Operator

Location: Philadelphia, PA

You must be legally authorized to work in the country where this job is located and not require any sponsorship assistance from Covanta.

Covanta is seeking an Equipment Operator for it 58th Street Transfer Station. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and yard maintenance while securing the certifications needed to operate Covanta's heavy equipment at the site.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Equipment Operation - Ability and willingness to learn and become proficient in the operation of a loader for consolidating dumped refuse on the tipping floor, an excavator with trash grapple for loading outbound trucks, a forklift for material handling and a skid steer for yard sweeping and misc. tasks (50%)

• Exterior site maintenance and improvement - litter collection, painting, snow removal and ice prevention (30%)

• Traffic Control for incoming/outgoing traffic as needed (10%)

• Provide assistance to mechanic on equipment repairs requiring additional help (5%)

• Additional Duties as assigned by Transfer Station Manager (5%)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• A minimum of 1 year experience operating heavy equipment in a site regulated by OSHA

• Valid Driver's License

• Good communication and customer relations skills

• Good mechanical aptitude

• Ability to operate (or willingness to learn) equipment such as a loader, excavator, forklift, skid steer or similar equipment

• Ability to work with hand and power tools

• Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds

• Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, bend or twist for extended periods of time

• Ability to walk and/or stand and/or sit for extended periods of time

• Ability to walk on elevated platforms or scaffolding

• Ability to work outside and in the elements under all weather conditions
