POSITION SUMMARY:

Prepares and paints aircraft according to manufacturer and customer specifications, provides technical assistance, and trains and develops painters with less experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Mask aircraft for protection as needed throughout the painting process, including for strip and stripping and for aerodynamic sealer.
  2. Sand skin and primer.
  3. Polish bright work.
  4. Operate basic air tools and man/scissor-lift as required for paint shop.
  5. Apply stripe colors and top coat paint.
  6. Mix primer and paint, and etch and alodine.
  7. Cosmetic body work.
  8. Interior painting.
  9. Paint equipment maintenance.
  10. Buffing paint and clear coat.
  11. Knowledge of EPA Rule 40, Subpart 6H.
  12. Assist other painters with basic duties.
  13. Assist with detailing the aircraft for customer delivery.
  14. Any other duties and tasks as requested or assigned.
  15. Budget paint projects.
  16. Knowledge of required materials.
  17. Interpret aircraft technical data.
  18. Knowledge of IMS System.
  19. Request materials for projects.
  20. Perform incoming inspection.
  21. Identify corrosion and delamination.
  22. Perform performance evaluations.
  23. Operate mixing bank.
  24. Lay out stripe design.
  25. Lead crew.
  26. All aspects of interior wood finishing.
  27. Installation of placards and markings.
  28. Handling and labeling of hazardous waste.
  29. Any other duties and tasks as requested or assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent experience and two years of experience in all aircraft painting procedures.

COMMUNICATION ABILITY:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATH ABILITY:

This position requires the ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office components.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A&P and Inspection Authorization preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires varied work shifts and overtime as required. Position requires adherence to KING AEROSPACE appearance standards at all times.

  • The noise level in the environment is usually loud.
