About the Job

The Cardiovascular Division at the University of Minnesota has growing regional and national reputation in cardiovascular clinical care and research. The Division is now recruiting three cardiologists, in the Academic track with the area of emphasis in clinical care, to develop and expand the Cardiology Critical Care Section/Program. The candidate will work closely with Cardiovascular Division and LHI leadership to expand the University's clinical and academic missions. The position will be based on 80% clinical and 20% protected research effort. Clinical efforts will include critical care hospital service and University clinics.

The mission of the University of Minnesota Medical School has four basic components: to advance the science and practice of cardiovascular medicine by performance of basic and clinical research; to train and mentor the future leaders of cardiovascular medicine; to share the knowledge and expertise of our faculty with our region's medical professionals and the public; and to provide clinical care that is both compassionate and state-of-the-art in cardiovascular care.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated high-level qualifications in education, research and clinical care. Internal Medicine board certified or board eligible status, Cardiology Board certified or board eligible and a Minnesota medical license is required. Candidates should also be board certified or board eligible in internal medicine, general cardiology and critical care cardiology.

Required areas of expertise include general clinical cardiology and advanced training and expertise in critical care cardiovascular medicine and general cardiology patient care management. Proven knowledge and success in clinical research skills. Candidates should have experience in supporting medicine post-graduate fellowship training including critical care sub-specialty training. Candidates should be recognized for provision of clinical excellence, a publication track record of successful research and experience and knowledge in grant submissions for external funding.

Applicants must have the ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
