Motion Planning Engineer - Autonomous Vehicle Applications

THE ROLE

Be on the forefront of revolutionizing the future of transport and logistics in human-machine collaboration for mission critical vehicles. In a highly technical and collaborative environment, we move our autonomous vehicle applications forward providing the software architecture, real-time control algorithms, artificial intelligence, motion planning, computer vision and sensor processing algorithms, graphical user interfaces and inter-process messaging needed to thrive. Our Motion planning and controls team builds the stack that is responsible for enabling the algorithms that make the vehicle execute trajectories in a safe, accurate and reliable manner. The work we do has a high impact to the organization; our technology will change lives.

YOUR IMPACT

Technical

  • Drive the various robotics aspect of the perception software stack including the development of software and algorithms that direct vehicles to select and follow appropriate trajectories
  • Define technical vision for mission-critical parts of the AV robotics system
  • Architect, design and implement robotic software applications, infrastructure and tools
  • Drive strategic planning, vision setting and establishing scalable design for execution

Managerial

  • Team with executive leadership to propose and set technology direction for robotics solutions
  • Build world-class engineering teams and champion career progression through mentorship and career development by providing technical leadership and guidance as they propose prototype, evaluate and iterate solutions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering, physics or related field; and 2 years of industry experience in automotive or ground vehicle controls, robotics, autonomous vehicle development or related areas
  • Experience in setting architectures that are scalable, efficient, fault-tolerant and easily extensible allowing for eventual changes without major disruptions

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering, physics or related field; and 5+ years of industry experience in automotive or ground vehicle controls, robotics, autonomous vehicle development or related areas
  • Experience with ROS
  • Experience with controls and estimation algorithms, vehicle dynamics or ADAS development
  • Experience with mobile robotics, autonomous vehicles or complex software systems

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent sitting, hearing, talking, visual, typing, and manual dexterity
