Apple Media Products (AMP) first delighted users with downloadable music in April 2003 with the opening of the iTunes Store. Since then, AMP has delivered countless innovations around the digital delivery of audio and video, and in 2008 revolutionized smartphone app distribution with the launch of the App Store. Being the source for so much digital content requires maintaining relationships with a vast number of providers, from record labels to movie studios to app developers. The Digital Supply Chain Engineering team (DSCE) is tasked with ensuring that new content is uploaded, processed, cataloged, and available on our storefronts when the provider expects it to be top notch quality. AMP Media Workflow Engineering team is seeking a forward-thinking self-starter to join our team. AMP is an increasingly vital and central component of Apple's ecosystem, and continues to rely heavily on processing of media at ever more substantial scale, at a level of quality unmatched in the industry. Join us in building Apple's platform for audio and video ingestion and processing at the heart of Apple TV+, and participate in the innovation that will drive the next generation of media features services at Apple. The Media Services team is seeking an experienced engineer to contribute to the design and implementation of the tooling that manages the Apple Media Products ecosystem. Our team is responsible for the images and video content across all of Apple's content stores, and provides the tools used by Apple and our partners worldwide to create compelling and informative presentation of content for our end users. We collaborate closely across the entire Apple product ecosystem, supporting new technologies that surprise and delight our customers, while ensuring high quality content and efficient productivity applications for designers and creators, enabling them to express their ideas with our suite of tools.
Key Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in a professional software development position
  • Proficient in JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS
  • Experience crafting complex applications using React or a comparable JS framework (e.g.: Angular, Vue, Aurelia, Ember)
  • Experience creating phenomenal web UI
  • Experience with *nix and macOS
  • Experience with micro-services architecture and server-side technologies
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
  • Experience with Java a plus
Description
Apple Media Products Image Systems Team is looking for a Front End Engineer to create and evolve our editorial media creation and publishing processes. We build systems that facilitate the creation, scheduling, and publishing of editorial media for all of Apple's platforms around the globe. Our systems directly support customer facing features in Apple Music, AppleTV+, Apple Books, Podcasts, and various other Apple media products. We are looking for an individual who has extensive experience developing sophisticated web applications, collaborating with other specialists to define data interfaces and protocols, and working with designers to bring the user experience to life. We are looking for a self starting, ambitious individual who is not afraid to question assumptions and who has excellent written and oral skills. We look for good teammates who are able to tackle problems and deliver imaginative solutions. You have a strong belief in empowering users through great UIs and tool automation. You will go beyond the industry norm and demonstrate creativity in problem solving, ability to think dynamically and outside of standard convention, and adapt quickly to new technical areas. We promote innovation and new technology to further improve Apple's hardware performance and user experience.
Education & Experience
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
