Job Description:

We have 2 positions to fill for Senior Dev Ops & Test Automation Engineers. One role will focus on operations and the other on testing.

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States with preference for East coast-based candidates &/or working an east coast schedule.

Position Summary:

As an IT Test and Reliability Engineer for the American Red Cross, you will be part of the Enterprise Data Group that is modernizing and transforming our data and reporting capabilities across multiple verticals, including Biomedical Services, by implementing a new modernized data architecture. The Senior Test and Reliability Engineer role requires you to be a natural problem-solver with strong analytical capabilities and verbal and written communication skills as well as being a technical leader, and mentor within the Department. Therefore, you are an innovative professional who can easily acquire new business acumen, enjoy technology and systems, and are passionate about their adoption. You are a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, a keen attention to detail and solid writing skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and upgrading of automated test process, system, and scripts.
  • Lead Environment Management Design with Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code systems
  • Define new and enhance existing Agile and DevOps SDLC processes with Teams that operate under Scrum or Kanban.
  • Inform Agile Team members about guidance from Software QA and on any new findings including best practices.
  • Learn and understand business processes and how individuals and technology can best ensure the success of business users.
  • Elicit, collect, clarify, and analyze business requirements into technology artifacts from which technology solutions are developed.
  • Participate in all phases of the solution lifecycle and works closely with a variety of internal, and external business, and technology partners. This includes requirements analysis, specification writing, and authoring and executing test plans.
  • Evaluate system and component releases for impact to business processes.
  • Work in conjunction with development team to prioritize and coordinate software releases and to ensure that development efforts are in alignment with business requirements.
  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas.

    Qualifications:
    Education: 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    Minimum: 4+ years of professional experience acting as a Test or Reliability Engineer with expertise in analyzing requirements for system integrations, authoring automated tests, and managing SDLC environments.



    • Experience with programming languages such as: python, javascript, golang, or bash
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience using release management and projects management tools like Jira, EasyVista, ClearQuest, or Git/Gitlab.
    • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
    • Must be comfortable with formal documentation development and working in a regulated environment.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and comfortable working remote as required.
    • Experience with Terraform or Ansible.
    • Experience with Cloud Providers like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
    • Experience with being a Jira admin and configuring Jira Integrations a plus.
    • Experience with CICD Pipeline as Code tools like Gitlab or Harness a plus.
    • Experience with BDD or Contract Based testing strategies a plus.
    • Experience with Monitoring Solutions and Strategies like New Relic or Datadog a plus.
    • Experience in a biomedical, healthcare, blood or regulated environment is a plus.
    • Experience with Rational ClearQuest is a plus.
