The Human Resources department of the American Library Association seeks a full-time HR Assistant to provide senior level administrative support to its full service department. This is an excellent opportunity to learn human resource management in support of experienced professionals. Reporting to the Associate Executive Director (AED) of Human Resources, this position will provide the sole administrative support to the Human Resources Department staff including:
The secondary role of the position is the coordination of ALA's temporary staffing - working with selected agencies in order to obtain temporaries for different units and departments at ALA. This will include being the point of contact for agencies and relationship building in order to secure the best temporary for any requested assignment. This is a regular full-time position based in our Chicago office. ALA staff are currently working remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic. Please note that although we have a generous telecommuting policy for our employees, we do not have any truly remote positions in states outside of our workplace sites. ALA currently requires that employees be fully vaccinated as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Proof of vaccination will be required on or before start date. All offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check and proof of your eligibility to work in the United States. Starting salary range negotiable from the mid-40s, based on relevant experience.
