Job Description

Selected candidates for a Level One Estimator position, Level One Estimator shall possess some computer skills using MS Word and Adobe Reader, and will be expected to perform basic receiving and clerical functions related to the Planning department. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Other responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and organized work area, as well as adherence to organization safety rules and regulations. As a condition of assignment, Level 1 Estimator candidates may be expected to access information and product controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and/or Export Administration Regulations. As such these candidates may be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, Legal Permanent Residence or protected status as a Non-Citizen National of the U.S.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receives customer generated requests for quotations (RFQ's), reviews engineering drawings, specifications, and available tooling in order to develop costing information for development of quotations.
  • Performs analysis of operations required for fabrication or assembly of parts and determines if the capability and capacity exist in house or will be done at an outside supplier.
  • Obtains quotations for materials and operations/processes that will be sub-contracted.
  • Prepares cost analysis by recapitulating material, labor, overhead, tooling, inspection, and non-recurring engineering costs incurred in the processing or assembly of part(s).
  • Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate.
  • Prepares quotation for submittal to customer based upon current pricing strategy.
  • Reviews quotation and cost detail with supervisor and other parties as required.
  • Provides a point of contact for customers in reference to RFQ's.
  • Review performance against estimate for pertaining to costs associated with contracts awarded.
  • May participate in Contract Review activities.
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must be detail oriented and quick learner.
  • Organization skills.
  • Basic computers skills (such as MS Word, MS Outlook, and Adobe Reader)
  • Basic typing skills.
  • Understanding order of process flow requirements.
  • Ability to negotiate and close sales transactions, manage and resolve problems both internally and externally to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Good communicator with ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills.

Required Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in sales, purchasing, estimating, or a combination of other equivalent experience.
  • Previous aerospace industry experience preferred.

Level of Education:

  • General Standard education including the ability to read and write in English.
