Job Description

THE ROLE

In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to participate and lead other engineers in the design, validation, and troubleshooting of complex electrical / electronic systems for existing and new heavy-duty, off-highway, construction type vehicles at JLG Industries. You will work closely with Controls, Hydraulics, and Power Train Engineering to develop innovative solutions for the next generation of products. You will gain the opportunity to interact with a highly motivated and diverse team around the world.

HOW YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • You will be a leader and delegate work and assign priorities for both domestic and off-shore resources to successfully achieve business goals
  • You will plan and direct relevant activities through all phases of innovation and development
  • You will assist in feasibility studies and estimates on proposed projects
  • You will direct preparation of layouts, drawings, specification, and bills of material
  • You will use strong design and troubleshooting knowledge of heavy-duty off-highway vehicle type electrical / electronic systems, including power distribution, controls circuitry, and CAN bus communication networks
  • You will utilize Creo 3D modeling software integrated with software such as Routed Systems Designer to manage or develop wiring schematics and harnesses
  • You will Interrogate various regulations and standards for design compliance
  • You will select and/or design components for function, cost, reliability, and manufacturability
  • You will interact as necessary with various other external suppliers, engineering groups and disciplines within the organization
  • You will work closely with controls / software engineers and communicate associated design implications and requirements resulting from electrical systems design
  • You will utilize various tools such as multimeters / oscilloscopes, Vector Canalyzer, and proprietary programming tools for design verification and interrogation on JLG product
  • You will create and present training as required on relevant systems

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar associated discipline
  • 8 years of applicable industry engineering experience

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic systems
  • Previous electrical / electronic design experience with off-highway or automotive vehicles
  • Exposure to controls / software design used in vehicle systems
  • Previous management experience
  • Applicable industry organization membership / involvement
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
