Fire Marshall

The Fire Marshall manages code and prevention services for the jurisdiction. The fire marshal responds to major emergencies to assist with incident management, provide professional consultation, and to investigate the cause of fires and explosions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Reviews plans for code compliance.
* Supervises fire inspectors and conducts fire inspections.
* Recommends items for code adoption.
* Assists with the development of public safety education programs.
* Prepares required reports.
* Assists the law director in the preparation of citations to property owners.

* Must participate in scheduled and unscheduled onsite compliance audits.
* Implements corrective/preventive measures as determined by the Corporate Compliance/Audit Committee.
* Cooperates with Internal Audit, Compliance and HR on any recommendations and changes to compliance and legal workflow issues.
* Takes swift and immediate action in accordance with Internal Audit and Corporate Compliance on any areas of concern.

* Responds to the Emergency Operations Center during major emergencies and functions as either the agency representative or the ESF 4 for the jurisdiction.
* Investigates cause and origin of fires and explosions.

* Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor of Science in Fire Science or closely related field.

* State certified Fire Inspector II.
* IAAI Fire and Arson Investigator.
* Valid driver license with good driving record. DUI within last 5 years is disqualifying.
* Available to work overtime as assigned and as needed on an emergency basis.
