N5S: Surgical

This 26 bed unit, specializes in the care of the general med surg population: Joints (Hip, knee, shoulder) Neuro (back, surgery) Orthopedic (fractures), and other short term stay patients.

The nurses are telemetry trained and the orientation provides the education to give specialized care in these areas. The team has a very involved interdisciplinary team that works together for best patient outcomes.

**Achieved advanced accreditation for Joint replacement.

** This is an infection free unit!

Responsibilities


  • Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care.
  • Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse.
  • Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Deliver excellent nursing care through evaluations, planning, implementation, and documentation while serving a diverse patient population with complex concerns.



Qualifications

Education Requirements



  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing


Certification and Licensure



  • PA Registered Nurse Temporary Practice Permit or Registered Nurse License
