GENERAL FUNCTION:

Key business leader position responsible for assigned line of business (LOB), and/or functional area. Works with LOB Leaders to oversee and ensure the strategic vision is converted into a tactical plan and executed from the identification of ideas through project completion. Provides insight and decision support to the LOB leadership team and cross-functional business partners through evaluation of technical and operational complexity.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, prioritize, and coordinate project and infrastructure improvement initiatives within assigned area.
  • Ensure work is assigned to positively impact the goals of the assigned division, line of business, and/or functional area.
  • Serve as a leader of and an escalation point for LOB Project Managers on team.
  • Actively engage and develop relationships with management of assigned area.
  • Develop skills of team, primarily focused on core project management concepts leveraging existing PMO methodologies, process improvement tools, and overall business knowledge.
  • Represent the LOB Project Management Team to other organizations.
  • Serve as Manager of project implementation team ensuring successful and timely implementation of key process and infrastructure improvement affecting all lines of business and enabling functional areas.
  • Provide leadership in working with users in defining project, resource and system requirements. Ensure that resources assigned to the project have all the tools and information needed to perform their project tasks.
  • Actively work to manage scope throughout the entire project life cycle. Determine if/how changes in project requirements and/or standards impact projects.
  • Function as leader in defining project definition, scope and related procedures to ensure successful implementation.
  • Serve as primary liaison between the business and enabling function areas throughout the project life cycle.
  • Develop metrics to drive successful implementation and on-going success of initiative ideas.
  • Monitor issues within projects and assists in resolving project conflicts.
  • Apply a strong base knowledge of relevant systems/applications as it relates to workflow, process, and problem resolution and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze research on operational procedures and methods and recommend changes for improvement with an emphasis on automation and efficiency. May conduct benchmarking activities to identify best practices.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with relevant business partners to develop a solid knowledge base of products, processes and related revenue streams. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key personnel in each functional area.
  • Partner with team members in the research and resolution of system and process problems.
  • As necessary, identify and recommend vendors and assist with all activities as it relates to managing and leveraging the partnership with the vendor throughout the life cycle of the project and beyond.
  • May provide training and development of employees on new processes arising from project.
  • May aide in developing communications plans to include marketing brochures, notification campaign and documentation materials for all internal & external customers regarding process changes.
  • As necessary, ensure the third party vendors meet contractual service level obligations based on reportable service level agreements with LOB management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages a group of LOB Project Managers, Providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential by providing challenging opportunities; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments. Role will also likely include supervision of non-direct report analysts and managers assisting in project implementation.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors' degree in Business, Information Systems, or comparable work experience. MBA preferred but not required.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience in the Industry.
  • Ability to manage a large, multi-functional team.
  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills specializing in process and infrastructure improvement.
  • Working knowledge of assigned division, business line, and/or functional area.
  • Expert with basic MS Office suite. Knowledge of MS Access and similar data mining/analysis tools preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and execute to target dates.
  • Strong Vendor Relationship Management Skills.
  • Strong knowledge in several application and processing systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • No certifications required but Six Sigma, PMP, and CPA experience a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
  • Extended viewing of CRT screen.
  • Minimal travel (less than 15%) as dictated by project need.
