Solebury School seeks an experienced candidate to fill the Assistant Director - Annual Fund (ADAF) position, overseeing the school’s annual operations fundraising campaign. This individual should possess very strong interpersonal and communication skills, have an outgoing and friendly nature, understand, as well as appreciate and have an affinity for the history and diversity of the Solebury School community. The ADAF will work closely with senior leadership on appropriate strategies and goals for annual fundraising and friend-raising, and will participate in the development of major and planned giving prospects. This position is a direct report to the Assistant Head of School.
Essential Functions:
- Design and implement Annual Fund campaign strategies (identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) to reach fundraising goals established by the AHOS while maintaining a budget. Activities can include multi-letter direct mail campaigns, digital fundraising platforms and giving days, social media and digital communications, as well as individual outreach.
- Keep updated records in fundraising database, including gift entry when needed
- Prepare content for Annual Report in collaboration with the Advancement team
- Prepare informational updates for multiple constituencies on various media platforms
- Create and send timely donor acknowledgements for all gifts
- Work with business office staff to reconcile financial data monthly as well as for audit purposes
- Manage Solebury Fund related events, activities and volunteer recognition
- Assist with special events, including, but not limited to, Reunion Weekend
- Prepare quarterly analysis of Annual Fund progress for AHOS and School leadership
- Support the mission and vision of Solebury School
- Perform other duties as assigned by the AHOS
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Three years experience in annual fundraising for non-profit organizations; familiarity with independent school alumni and development operations preferred
- Strong understanding of the Google Suite
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to relationship-build and handle multiple concurrent projects
- Experience with a relational fundraising database
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with Social Media and its applicability to fundraising
- Strong organizational, administration, telephone and interpersonal communication skills, detail-oriented
- Solid writing, editing and presentation ability
- Professional demeanor, flexible, and able to respond to multiple demands
- Knowledge of fund development principles, best practices, and public relations
- Hybrid work schedule will be considered. Limited travel may be required. Some weekend/evening events required, including one weekend of residential life duty
Preferred
- An understanding of the Microsoft suite
- Experience working with executive fundraising volunteers
- Experience with fundraising along with an understanding of education at an independent school
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- May sit or stand for extended periods of time at a desk in front of a computer
- Duties are performed indoors, usually in an office environment, and occasionally outdoors
- May lift up to 20 pounds
- Work under tight timelines
- Must be flexible regarding work schedule as limited travel may be required. Some weekend/evening events required, including one weekend of residential life duty each school year
