Privacy Analyst

As a Data Privacy Analyst, you will be a member of the SEI Legal and Compliance Department and will work with a team of attorneys and legal professionals as well as partner with operational and technical colleagues. In your role, you will master and promote governance for the personal data processed in assigned business areas or technical domains. You will support the creation and maintenance of the record of processing activities. Additionally, you will support the overall data privacy / protection program through activities such as risk assessment, development and tracking of remediation activities, support third party vendor assessments and investigate low and medium risk incident responses.

What you'll do:

  • Analyse and implement the governance controls for the processing of personally identifiable information, sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) and confidential data as it is acquired, processed, stored, and shared with third party vendors in connection with contractual obligations or carried out in the public interest.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of US data privacy laws including CCPA / CPRA and laws derived from other jurisdiction such as the EU's GDPR to analysis and provide oversight activities.
  • Research, critically assess and document processing activities or processing carried out in assets in record of processing activities, data protection impact assessments, privacy impact assessments as well as in other tools such as vendor assessment questionnaires.
  • Apply and record findings to include technical and organizational measures in the company's enterprise privacy platform, OneTrust.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs), as well as stakeholders across the enterprise, including Information Security, and Third Party Vendor Management colleagues.
  • Support the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) in auxiliary discussions with SMEs, clarifying goals and data privacy compliance and improvement objectives.
  • Working with the CPO, document recommendations based on analysis findings so as to support achieving data privacy compliance improvements.
  • In close collaboration with the CPO, lead and facilitate group discussions and working groups promoting data privacy governance, identifying data storage locations and securing ever-improving business buy-in for the data privacy program.
  • Supporting business unit operations and technical staff in the creation, amendment and/or refinement of their business processes to incorporate necessary data privacy controls and procedures, while ensuring they retain ownership for remedial actions and outcomes.
  • Remain current on updates to GDPR, CPRA, PIPEDA and other current and emerging privacy legislation and regulations.

What you bring to the table:

  • Proven experience in data processing analysis gained through working on large-scale data governance, compliance and regulatory initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce standardized process mapping ("As Is" versus "To Be").
  • Results oriented team player with experience building, deploying and managing a data privacy program in a global enterprise.
  • Experience of using an enterprise data privacy platform such as OneTrust.
  • Proven experience and ability to understand and apply data privacy and information security knowledge in a data privacy program.
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of common project management skills (i.e., Agile, PPM and / or Prince II).
  • Strong meeting and large group facilitation skills able to manage multi-disciplined workshops.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A quick, adept learner able to understand readily the demands of a fast-paced, ever changing, get-it-done business services environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability as a self-starter with ability to prioritize and multitask in high-pressure situations with tight deadlines
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong ability to collaborate and influence people at various levels throughout the organization while continuing to work independently to meet project requirements with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and data accuracy when handling sensitive information.
