Automation Engineer

Overview:

Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is looking for an Automation Engineer to design a detailed control system and develop software for complex engineering assignments and components of larger projects. This position applies specific knowledge of automated and process control systems to manufacturing processes. This is a long-term, direct hire role with our client located in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and carry out results oriented, value-added engineering solutions that achieve project goals and meet customer requirements
• Establish project documentation using corporate specifications, prints, schematics, and engineering standards
• Design automation and process control systems that incorporate PCs, PLCs, variable speed drives, motion control, and related process control systems
• Work closely with corporate engineering controls team and manufacturing IT team on implementation of current automation standards and data reporting systems
• Develop, configure, and debug control system programming including PLC's, OT networks, HMI and/or specialty component software
• Establish standard engineering and project management practices consistently throughout project and work assignments
• Direct and develop new technology with corporate engineering, consulting engineers, and equipment vendors
• Lead plant electricians on control systems, instrumentation, and supervise quality of installation
• Comply with all safety, health and environmental rules and regulations

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, computer science) preferred
• Prior manufacturing experience in 24/7 operations preferred
• Outstanding verbal and written skills and ability to work in a highly functional team environment required
• Detail oriented with high level of accuracy required
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail while prioritizing and handling numerous tasks
• Excels in advanced thinking, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills required
• Knowledge of industry technological developments and best practices
