Calibration Technician

Summary:

Under the supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor, the Quality Calibration Technician applies measurement science, mathematics, and/or physics to calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) to ensure measurement accuracy to complex geometric dimensional inspections ensuring company quality standards and conformance to customer quality and specifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IM&TE) in one of the following disciplines- electrical, dimensional, optical, physical/mechanical to ensure compliance with published specifications, traceable to NIST.
  • Maintain primary and secondary calibration standards.
  • Develop calibration procedures and methods according to detailed specifications.
  • Collect, compile, measure, summarize and record data gathered during calibration.
  • Analyze measurement data for identifying abnormalities, trends and/or predicting future values.
  • Identify IM&TE out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective actions via adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, etc.
  • Schedules inside/outside vendor calibration services.
  • Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality and safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as part prints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to write technical documentation.
  • Ability to operate optical comparator and related peripherals.
  • Ability to operate super micrometers, indicators, calipers, height gage, etc.
  • Strong mathematics knowledge to include geometry.
  • Good communication and troubleshooting skills.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • ASQ Calibration Technician Certification or 5 years related work experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, talk, or hear.
  • Ability to occasionally sit, stoop, kneel or crouch and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts where the noise level is moderate to loud. The noise level in the calibration work environment is usually low to moderate.
