Legal Services Manager - Regulatory Services - Banking, Operations and Regulatory Governance

The Legal Service Manager ("LSM") is a member of the SEI Legal & Compliance Department and will work with a team of attorneys and legal service managers who are responsible for providing legal advice and services to numerous SEI business teams to implement consistent and appropriate risk-based process for the development of new services across SEI platforms impacting banking and operations.

Responsibilities will include the following, each of which shall be performed under the direction of an attorney: staying abreast of the regulatory landscape impacting platform services and have excellent relationship skills to coordinate and communicate with members of SEI's Legal & Compliance team as well as SEI's business teams, supporting and counselling the business teams on the various regulatory obligations and risks associated with operational requirements impacting the banking and operations offered on SEI platforms; working closely with other attorneys, senior LSMs and compliance personnel in the Legal department to ensure that new banking and operation services are implemented in accordance with applicable compliance programs and comply with applicable law and regulations impacting those services; escalating issues that fall outside of established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

The LSM will be a member of Legal & Compliance Department and will report to the Managing Director/Attorney of the Banking, Operations and Regulatory Governance team.

  • Work with more senior staff whendealing with complex issues, larger clients, accounts, projects, analyses,or internal relationships

  • Resolve simple issues independentlywhile understanding what to escalate up the chain
  • Create sound and reliable workproduct that can be shared with clients directly
  • Collaborate well with market unitteams, while insuring that decision making stays within the appropriatelevels of risk appetites
  • Demonstrate experienced understandingof business lines and a basic understanding of the overall company
  • Have a fundamental understanding ofspecialized discipline
  • Be a reliable transmitter ofinformation, i.e. a good understanding of what issues need to be reported"up the chain" as opposed to those that you should be able to resolve onyour own
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding ofbusiness and operating environment


What you'll do:

The LSM's primary responsibilities will be:

  • Staying abreast of and interpreting new legislation and regulations impacting advisory, custody and banking services offered on SEI platforms to clients, including regulations of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Reserve Board and the FDIC;
  • Perform day-to-day tasks for business units and serve as primary day-to-day contact;
  • Assist legal team members in addressing regulatory and legal issues;
  • Assist Compliance in connection with regulated activities provided through platform services by regulated entities;
  • Review offering and marketing documents;
  • Support the management of actual and potential litigation matters, including internal reviews and investigations related to such matter, as well as the management and response to subpoenas;
  • Support the management of long-term projects, engaging colleagues and ensuring completion;
  • Perform other assignments as the Managing Director/Attorney may direct.

What you bring to the table:

To be considered candidates must demonstrate the following to the satisfaction of SEI:

  • B.S./B.A. from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience as a paralegal with a law firm or financial institution preferred
  • Knowledge of federal laws impacting financial service companies required (investment advisor and/or bank laws and regulations preferred) and experience in dealing with federal regulators a plus. Experience with the OCC and/or SEC preferred.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance in an operations, custody, trust or similarly regulated area; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Comfort with a dynamic, often-changing environment
  • Detail oriented, flexible and a collaborative team player
  • Strong desire to learn
  • A high degree of multi-tasking capability
  • Ability to prioritize work and business needs.
