Job Description

MISSION:

To train in and perform the assembly of simple to moderately complex wax components including gating systems to produce mold forms to be invested.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Preparation.

Objective: to inspect patterns and determine assembly methods.

Typical Activities:

  1. Pre-inspects pattern and gating components prior to start of assembly.
  2. Reads and follows technique card assembly instructions, which describe assembly steps of a simple to moderately complex nature.

Assembly.

Objective: to accurately assemble multi-component patterns.

Typical Activities:

  1. Trains in and assembles wax patterns and gating components by means of torch, hot pencils, and a variety of hand tools.
  2. Welds gates into place by means of torch or hot pencil.
  3. Assembles simple patterns; may occasionally use assembly fixtures.
  4. Smoothes and gauges the area around each assembly contact by means of hot pencil, torch or paint seal.
  5. Inspects assemblies during and after the assembly process for defects and quality.

Safety.

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Typical Activities:

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.
  4. Performs other tasks as assigned.

TRAINING:

  1. Training is provided on the job.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Previous experience in wax area preferred

OR

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and to perform arithmetic calculations.
  2. Demonstrated high degree of manual dexterity.
  3. Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and (TBO only) occasionally up to one hundred twenty five pounds.
  4. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, awkward physical positions, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
