Position Summary |
The Diagnostic Imaging
RVT will assist Board Certified Radiologists in the processes of acquiring radiographs on small, large, and exotic animals for planned or emergent cases. The successful Diagnostic Imaging
RVT will demonstrate the following:
-Proper radiographic techniques and positioning.
-Knowledge of radiographic procedures and safety.
-Make radiographs efficiently and accurately with few repeats.
-Assess radiographs for proper positioning, exposure factors, and make necessary corrections with minimal supervision.
-Effectively train senior veterinary and veterinary technology students to make radiographs, correctly assess radiographic quality, and make corrections when necessary.
This dynamic service area has a high volume of cases ranging from ultrasounds, CT Scans,
MRI, Nuclear medicine bone scans and I-131 cats. In order for the service to operate at expected efficiency levels, the
RVT will ensure proper protocols are followed to complete studies timely and with high quality. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
Associates or Bachelors degree in veterinary technology. Meet all requirements to become licensed in the state of Georgia within 6 months of employment or have an Active license with the GA State Board of
VET Medicine as a Veterinary Animal Technician.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent customer service, high degree of confidentiality, openness to teaching and providing consultation to a variety of stakeholders. |
Physical Demands |
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
- Wearing all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc.
-Will wear unit specific protective equipment to avoid exposure to radioactive machinery |

This technician cleans and stock the 4 small animal radiology suites and the 1 large animal radiology suite, CT, U/S- small and large animal, and
NUC Med. This technician also cleans the radiology kennel room. |
