Job Summary

Design, develop, implement, test and support software for boiler and water heating control systems, end of production line test machines, programs for internal use, and mobile applications (Apple and Android)

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Identify, resolve, or improve on system's performance
  • Identify, analyze, design, and develop program changes consistent with division and corporate standards and best practices
  • Identify and resolve errors or problems with existing programs
  • Specify reporting requirements
  • Specify form requirements
  • Troubleshooting issues with hardware and software processes
  • Work with others to detect problems and implement solutions
  • Investigating and using new technologies where relevant
  • Providing written knowledge transfer material
  • Maintaining and improving existing codebases
  • Develops control methodologies for new and existing products



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education





    • Bachelor's degree in, Computer Engineering or Computer Science





Experience





    • 1-3 years' software development experience with C++including C++ Standard Libraries
    • Experience with LINUX operating systems
    • Knowledge and experience with object-oriented design and development
    • Knowledge with SQL/Stored Procedures





Other Requirements





    • Experience leading or participating in design and implementation of control systems including both hardware and software
    • Knowledge of Repositories (Git and Mercurial)
    • Hands on experience with electro-mechanical system components including sensors, actuators, signal conditioning and data acquisition electronics
    • Understanding of electronic schematics and basic electronic designSkilled at creating graphical interface for controls and how humans relate to machine interfaces
    • Understanding of formal design process (Software Development Cycle)
    • Familiar with the QT, .NET framework, JavaScript, Python, QML, Java, BASH scripting
    • Capable of bringing software products from development to released products
    • Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Experience



  • Master's degree in, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years' software development experience with C++including C++ Standard Libraries



Interpersonal Skills



  • Exceptional verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize



Technical Skills



  • Must be able to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and physics
  • Basic Microsoft office and graphical skills
  • Understand how to use a Digital Oscilloscope and Logic Analyzer
  • Understand UART, I2C, Modbus, and CANBus communications at a logic level
  • Knowledge of Big O Notation to minimize operation
  • Experience with Data Structures and Algorithms (Stacks, Queues, Trees)
  • Knowledge of Docker Containers
  • Knowledge in QT toolchain configurations
  • Understand Cloud based processing on Azure and AWS
