Teaching Assistant
The Department of Health, Behavior, and Society is seeking a Teaching Assistant who will provide Teaching Assistance to HBS Fundamentals Course.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

This class exposes students to fundamental issues in public health, with a social and behavioral focus. Each class is in the form of a guest lecture for the first half and a lab session for the second half. Particular tasks are:
  • Answer student emails about the class
  • Ensure CoursePlus site is up-to-date
  • Grade activities and papers when needed, enter grade, and participate in instructor-TA meetings every week
  • Attend class (M, W, 3:30 to 5:45) and answer questions on chat
  • Answer questions during lab sessions (second half of each class day) and lead sessions when required


Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Bachelor's Degree


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree or Master's Degree candidate

Starting Salary Range: $18.86 - $25.93 /hr (commensurate with experience)

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
