Overview

As a Wetland Delineation Lead with Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be part of a team to help clients navigate today's complex environmental regulatory landscape to achieve and maintain compliance with the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and related regulations. You will lead wetland and stream delineations, ecological monitoring/assessment field activities, and prepare reports and permit applications. You will also be expected to provide guidance and mentoring to junior ecologists to help advance their field delineation and technical skills.



Qualifications

    B.S. or B.A. in a natural sciences field (e.g., Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology);
  • 3-8 years of experience leading applied ecological field studies (wetland delineation, fisheries, forestry, botany, invertebrates);
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Solid understanding of scientific process and ability to work in team setting;
  • Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment independently or under the supervision of an experienced scientist
  • Is comfortable conducting field assignments in challenging conditions - must be able to handle the physical demands of field assignments in difficult terrain and poor weather conditions.

Additional qualifications that are a plus:

  • Completion of a 40-hour wetland delineation, ORAM, and/or QHEI training course;
  • Familiarity with Section 401 and 404 Clean Water Act regulations and permitting;
  • Familiarity with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation;
  • Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS);
  • Familiarity with ecological restoration practices;
