Job Description Summary

Position is responsible for all broadcast operations equipment and infrastructure in the digital and linear spaces at Wake Forest Athletics facilities. These activities cover multiple career fields including but not limited to CATV, Audio, Video, Wireless RE Television production, Television Broadcasting. The engineer is responsible for all control room and studio equipment as well as deployed cameras and on-air talent equipment at athletic venues.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for the planning, installation, and utilization of a multiple control room facility and athletic venue infrastructure used for the ACC Network, Wake Forest produced broadcast operations, and in-venue fan engagement.
  • Responsible for all new athletic system designs including responsibility for both the capital and operational budgets involved in such processes.
  • Responsible for building and maintaining corporate relationships with technology vendors to continually improve athletic technology platforms.
  • Manage all new construction and retrofit projects as they relate to multimedia technology.
  • Facilitate Daktronics, XM radio, DV Sport, Apogee, and other contracts and service agreements.
  • Manage day to day operations and service of equipment totaling over 10 million dollars in value.
  • Maintain and service all A/V and multimedia assets in all athletic facilities.
  • Coordinate and perform multimedia needs and requirements for all special events.
  • Coordinate all aspects of Live Video Streaming with the ACC, and national broadcast networks.
  • Manage game day activity associated with network television, radio broadcasts, instant replay, and other related media sources for all sports (main contact for these groups).
  • Manage live streaming of press conferences, web conferences., video and audio conferences.
  • Maintain asset database for all athletic multimedia assets.
  • Manage pre-season assessment and operational checks of all assets in McCreary Tower andBB&T Field, LJVM Coliseum, WFBP, Spry Soccer Stadium, Kentner Stadium, Budd Gym, Golf Learning Center, Varsity Arena, SSPC. Shah Basketball complex, Manchester athletic center, Miller center, and the tennis complex.
  • Serve as liaison with ACC on all emerging technology changes as they relate to athletics.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to supervise studentemployees and subcontract labor as well as the ability to manage personnel and finance.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, superior telephone etiquette and ability to deal effectively with students, faculty and staff, television networks, conference personnel, as well as peers and management.
  • Ability to operate control room equipment including but not limited to video switchers, replay systems, graphics for television, audio for television, and produce the shows as well as direct shows.
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations and manage multiple complex projects as well as a working familiarity with facility multimedia system design. videoconferencing systems, scoring systems., video board display technologies, large venue audio systems, distributed audio systems distributed CATV systems, broadcast television systems, editing and capture technology, mobile audio and video platforms, systems integration, and control systems.
  • Ability to work after hours and/or weekends and on-call, as specified by supervisor.

Other Functions:

  • Responsible for technical subcontractors relating to multimedia projects/tasks.
  • Supervise game day staff operating facility technology platforms.
  • Supervise all game day production personnel for ACCNE and Big board shows.
  • Manage and supervise students and interns.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with 3 to 5 years related experience with the management of technical, personnel, knowledge, and experience of producing live TV in the Digital and Linear space.
  • Knowledge and experience of producing big board shows in athletic venues, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have experience organizing and conducting training.
  • Management experience in a supervisory position charged with maintenance of essential equipment.
  • Valid driver license with good driving record; must be insurable.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ACC/NCAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with WFU campus, athletics, and off site competition venues or ability to acquire such knowledge.
