Pickle Research Campus in North Austin. PurposeAs part of a multi-disciplinary integrated research team investigating US tight oil/shale gas plays, the candidate will play a central role, integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical and engineering data and interpretations into a geo-cellular model, and in identifying and characterizing the need for further research into all of these fields. The geologic modeler is the focal point for subsurface data and information and provides geologically- and geographically-based volumetric assessments that are essential for estimates of in-place hydrocarbon resources and economic analysis of production scenarios. Responsibilities
Ph.D. degree with two years relevant experience or M.S. degree with four years relevant experience in Geoscience / Subsurface analysis and interpretations of sedimentary basins, including some experience with unconventional reservoirs. Demonstrated experience applying geoscience, statistical and engineering expertise to 3D geo-cellular modeling. Expertise in the use of Petrel software, and experience in the synthesis and input of geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data into the Petrel platform. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred QualificationsTen years relevant experience in Geoscience / Subsurface analysis and interpretations of sedimentary basins, including some experience with unconventional reservoirs. A deep and broad understanding of surface and subsurface geology, petrophysical analysis, and reservoir engineering based on both upstream energy industry and academic experience. The ideal candidate has an extensive background in petroleum geology, basin modeling, rock and fluid properties and unconventional reservoirs. Practical experience using geologic interpretation software platforms such as Petra, ArcGIS, and Landmark, and with industry databases such as IHS Enerdeq. The ideal candidate will have more than 5 years of industry experience in geoscience and geological modeling and will approach the task of geologic modeling by first having a clear understanding of the geology at the basin scale.
