HX5 is currently seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas at NASA Johnson Space Center in support of the Computer Human Interface Imagery and Lighting System, a critical sub-system of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
  • Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
  • Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process
  • Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation
  • Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance
  • Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
  • Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses
  • Work and present schedule and progress to customers
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Education and Experience

  • Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience.

    • BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience.
    • MS in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience.
    • Ph.D. from an ABET-accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of experience.


  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
  • Experience working in a team environment


Preferences



  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school
  • 5-10 years' of relevant experience in engineering or systems engineering
  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
  • Experience with NASA processes


Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
