Lead Data Architect

I. JOB SUMMARY

The Lead Data Architect will be part of the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team reporting to the Director, Enterprise Information & Business Intelligence. The Lead Data Architect will be responsible for architecting and designing the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). The Lead Data Architect will work closely with Business teams and the EIM team to understand business requirements, relate the requirements to available data, assess data from Emergent applications for quality, and build logical and physical dimensional data models to deliver the data to end users in a standard and consistent framework.

This position can be remote / virtual (but must work standard East coast work hours).

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Lead Data Architect is expected to:



  • Own the data model, implementation, and delivery of the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)
  • Analyze legacy applications, understand business requirements, and develop future state data architectures
  • Determine database structural requirements by analyzing functional requirements and business processes, and evaluating existing systems or applications
  • Create and maintain data standards, lineage, and attribute mapping from data sources
  • Conduct data analysis to determine data availability and quality for purposes of reporting
  • Define / design the logical and dimensional data model for the EDW
  • Build a data dictionary that documents and exposes metadata
  • Analyze data in-depth using SQL
  • Audit data regularly to maintain quality
  • Educate other team members on the EDW data model and address questions as needed
  • Multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines
  • Work independently

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field or equivalent experience in a technical or business discipline.
  • 12-15 years' experience with following tools and concepts
  • Databases such as SQL Server / Oracle
  • Columnar databases such as Snowflake / Vertica
  • Data Modeling tools such as ERWin or ER Studio
  • Processing large volumes of structured and unstructured data
  • Data movement and transformation technologies
  • Version Control software such as TFS, CVS or GIT (preferred)
  • Strong analytics skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound business and technical acumen
  • Strong time management, organization, and execution skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong collaboration skills required to effectively work across a diverse group including executives, managers and subject matter experts
  • Self-starter who takes initiative to get tasks done
  • Prior experience in the following areas is highly desirable
  • SAP functional modules (Finance/Accounting, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Warehouse Management, Procure to Pay)
  • Delivering BI / DW solutions to end users in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Abilities: Demonstrated capabilities (e.g. able to translate strategy to action, Effective verbal and/or written communicate at all levels of organization, work effectively in ambiguous situations, ability to multi-task, proven track record of increasing customer base)
