Clinical Social Worker
Job Summary This position will cover the Parnassus ED overnight including on weekends; exact hours TBD.
The Clinical Social Worker II or Clinical Social Worker III's (LCSW) primary responsibilities are psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, brief therapeutic interventions, complex discharge planning, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and facilitating the plan of care through the health care continuum for patients, families, significant others, and staff, with particular focus on high risk populations. The Clinical Social Worker II/III coordinates resources and services in response to a patient's psychosocial needs while collaborating with Case Managers, Nursing Staff, Medical Staff, and ancillary departments with the goal of supporting a timely and safe discharge and/or meeting the continuing care needs within the fiscal realities of the case. The CSW II/III will practice within the scope of UCSF's mission statement: Caring, Healing, Teaching, Discovering; and the values statement of UCSF's Everyday PRIDE: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence.
The CSW II/III will participate in department education and practice improvement activities. The CSW III has advanced clinical knowledge and skills and is distinguished from the CSW II by leadership activities including participation in advanced program planning, provision of educational programs, clinical supervision, consultation to the clinical team, other departments, and the community. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role. At UCSF Medical Center, experienced and sensitive social workers in our Social Work department are available to assist patients and their families cope with the many psychological and social problems that may arise when facing illness, hospitalization and medical treatment.
Our social workers act as patient advocates by serving as counselors, helping to find resources and solving problems. Any concerns related to the psychological, practical and social well-being of each patient or their loved ones may be discussed openly with our social workers. Required Qualifications * Masters degree from a CSWE accredited school of Social Work.
* Current California State License of Clinical Social Work in good standing (CSW III).
* Experience (internship/career) in a healthcare and/or hospital setting preferred.
* Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
* Demonstrates resourcefulness, effective written and oral communication, diplomacy, and organizational and analytic skills.
* Self-directed, assertive and creative in problem solving, systems planning and patient care management in a high volume work environment.
* Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
* Basic pager, telephone, and computer skills including the use of the internet.
* This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
