Job Summary

GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This Public Relations & Marketing Analyst (Short-term) position performs advanced journey level work as a subject matter expert promoting college and/or District activities and services through the provision of public information, marketing, internal/external communications, social media and the gatewaycc.edu website; develops and implements public relations and marketing campaigns which may include crisis communications.

Additional Information

This is a short-term assignment with a projected end date of June 30th, 2023 with renewal based on available funds and the needs of MCCCD.

Essential Functions

30% - Coordinates and plans public relations and marketing activities for GateWay Community College, ensuring the overall brand for the college and district are maintained. Conducts media and other interviews, researches, writes and edits for internal and external newsletters, the intranet site, web content, marketing materials, advertising, news releases, and feature articles. Coordinates, plans, writes, edits and executes social media strategies and efforts for the college.

25% - Writes and edits copy for campus-wide college communications (via email; newsletters); creates press releases. Prepares and edits presentations and speeches, as assigned. Implements crisis communication strategies as assigned.

25% - Collects, writes, and produces content for the college's various digital platforms, blog posts, website, employee newsletters, advertising campaigns, press releases, media advisories, marketing materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency with messaging, voice, tone, style, and brand guidelines.

10% - Provides photography and videography services and assistance, including on-site event coverage.

10% - Performs other duties as assigned, as well as participates on college initiatives and committees as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and two (2) years of professional journey level experience in developing and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in public relations, marketing, journalism or related field and four (4) years of professional journey level experience in developing and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and six (6) years of professional journey level experience in developing and implementing public relations and marketing activities, projects and campaigns.

Desired Qualifications

A. Experience in managing digital and social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

B. Experience in writing and content creation skills for social media, website, and earned media platforms.

C. Experience in coordinating and executing photography and videography services.

D. Experience with web content management systems such as Drupal, Wordpress, etc.

E. Experience with creating and managing digital communications, including email newsletters, CRM communications, and other mass communication tools.

F. Experience working with a diverse population of students or customers.

  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
