Job Overview

Prepare and mask all products to be hung for the purpose of Powder Coating. Hang and remove parts as specified in set up procedures.

Essential Elements

  • Review work orders and set up procedures for all products to be hung on the powder line. Determine that all making is proper and parts are hung on proper racking. Make sure proper orientation of the parts is correct as specified in the set up procedures.
  • Hang masked units on respective hangers. Remove completed parts for masking removal and inspection to the criteria set forth in powder specifications.
  • Mask necessary parts based on the set up procedures in place.
  • Perform minor repairs. Move bad parts to MRB location in area and write up proper documentation to allow disposition to be properly done.
  • Maintain exact counts and properly fill out required paperwork associated with work orders and issuing documentation as well as moving material to its proper destination, using material pull systems.
  • Verify work orders and pull parts from powder stock location. Doing all proper documentation and transactions to ensure proper inventory levels, flow receipts for JIT parts that go to Assembly stock areas.
  • Responsible for using tag system to ensure MO integrity.
  • Inform Technician of problems requiring resolution. Request additional material and supplies from utility person and have finished product moved to proper destination.
  • Load and set up racking for orders to run.
  • Verify all work orders to ensure proper color and quantity and verify operations for powder.
  • Make sure all methods and procedures are followed.
  • Mask and inspect product properly by the set up charts and quality standards.
  • Verify visual inspection of all parts powdered.
  • Scrape and remove bridging from powdered parts.
  • Pack parts to prevent damage.
  • Move or have parts moved to proper destination and perform data transactions.
  • Determine if any further application is needed and if so send back on line for second coat.
  • Work as a team in problem solving and process improvements.
  • Work with team members on cross training and rotation.

    Powder Associate - Essential Elements (Continued)
  • Ensure work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition and that prescribed safety measures and procedures are followed.
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.
  • Maintain 6S by keeping work area neat, clean and organized. Support and participate in Lean activities.

    Requirements
  • Must have a minimum 1-3 years' experience in powder coating/education in a related field, or previous job-related experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required.
  • Basic working knowledge of operating computers and machinery.
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Must be able to work from specifications/blue prints
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to interact with other team members in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities.

    Job Demand
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30-50lbs of materials and products. All work is performed in an indoor facility.
  • Job frequently requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, hearing, lifting and carrying up to 30-50lbs. Exposure to paint fumes.
  • Ability to see information in print and or electronically
  • Work in a manufacturing environment.
