The Ghajar Lab at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is searching for a Bioinformatics Analyst I/Computational Scientist with an interest in developing wet lab skills that they can combine with computational expertise to lead discovery of immunotherapeutic strategies to eradicate dormant disease and prevent cancer metastasis.

Responsibilities

A computational scientist position (full-time/fully in-person) is available immediately within The Laboratory for the Study of Metastatic Microenvironments, led by Cyrus Ghajar. The successful candidate will work with members of the Ghajar Laboratory to embark on an exciting journey to tackle some of the most burning issues in tumor dormancy, metastasis and immunity through an approach that combines cutting edge computational methods, immune engineering and live cell imaging.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or master's degree in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering or related fields, and experience programming in R or Python. The successful candidate will apply this expertise to build upon computational tools such as NicheNET to analyze single cell RNAseq datasets and large proteomic datasets that have been generated by the Ghajar Lab. These data will guide CRISPR screens and the engineering of immune cells optimized to surveille and target rare, dormant tumor cells capable of initiating metastases.

The candidate will present these findings in lab meetings, will be expected to contribute data figures for manuscript/grant preparation, and should view this position as a golden opportunity to conduct and contribute to cutting edge research in a world-class laboratory.
