Job Summary
A neurologist who focuses on epilepsy treatment. Diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. Examine a patient's mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
Essential Functions:
- Diagnose complex medical problems by referring to a patient's history, examining them, and conducting neurological tests. (10%)
- Counsel patients on neurological disorders and their background. (10%)
- Order neurological tests and interpreting the results of neuroimaging studies. (10%)
- Prescribe and/or administering treatment and medication. (10%)
- Monitor the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication. (10%)
- Order supportive care services for patients. (10%)
- Participate in neuroscience research activities. (10%)
- Liaison with medical professionals in the community and hospitals. (10%)
- Keep up-to-date with neurological developments, treatments, and medication. (10%)
- Perform specialized treatments such as sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, behavioral neurology, and neurogenetics. (5%)
- Perform and interprete lumbar punctures, electroencephalography, electromyography, and nerve conduction velocity tests. (5%)
Education:
- Doctorate Degree Required
Work Experience:
Licenses:
- MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
- Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
- Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
- Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Computer skills required.
- Computer skills preferred.

Salary $209,172.00 - $246,645.82 / yr
