Positions may range from 33% to 67% time (one to two courses). Anticipated start:

Application Window Open date: October 31, 2022 Next review date: Tuesday, Oct 31, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Tuesday, Oct 31, 2023 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, is generating an applicant pool of qualified instructors to teach courses in African American Studies, pending openings. These include courses on topics such as but are not limited to: Black expressive culture, with an emphasis on film, music, and performance; Race and institutions; Black politics in the US and the diaspora; Race, technology, and media; African American literature, and Reading and Composition courses. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g. syllabus), writing exams, and managing GSIs. UC Berkeley instruction is currently in person but is prepared to implement hybrid and/or flexible modes of instruction if public health conditions change. Instructors must have internet access and be prepared to adjust pedagogical approaches with a remote setting and use new teaching tools.
