Associate Engineer - Projects

Laconia, New Hampshire, United States

Occupational Summary:

Primarily responsible for management of the capital equipment expenditure program; also includes management of other project or program as required, typically not directly related to the day-to-day production needs of the facility. This includes leading the project from design to implementation; includes project scope definition, specification preparation, research and evaluation, purchase requisition generation, scheduling, coordination, monitoring and reporting as required to launch, up to and including, final installation and transfer of a completed project.

Essential Functions:



  • Lead individual in coordination, organization and management of all projects; with the primary focus on capital equipment, as assigned.
  • Generation of detailed equipment specifications including any and all regulatory requirements of equipment or process and all associated sub-component or tooling and spare parts required to meet the objective of the program.
  • Work with any and all departments as necessary to determine and develop information required to then generate the scope and project plan according to the needs of the requestor.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, quality and any other department as required in generation, submitting, reviewing and analyzing proposals in order to make comparison recommendations in supplier selection. This includes conducting and presenting detailed return on investment analysis (ROI).
  • Coordinate and work with others in the selection of components, design and or all other necessary information or hardware to successfully interact with outside suppliers to meet the defined objective.
  • Creation of necessary layouts (including utilities consideration), operating and maintenance instructions or other associated information required to execute the project.
  • Lead on coordinating approval of equipment, interaction with manufacturing and maintenance for assembly, delivery, installation, testing or debugging in order for successfully launch.
  • Primary contact with equipment fabricator and/or suppliers.
  • Processes and /or equipment will be designed to maintain or improve the overall safety of the targeted tasks/equipment.
  • Designer and lead of process improvement projects to the latest industrial automation technology focused on improving productivity, reducing scrap and setups while promoting cost reductions.
  • Lead interface and coordinator with suppliers, vendors and equipment fabricators in support of manufacturing and maintenance on component and equipment selection.
  • Lead hands-on technical support of maintenance and troubleshooting to manufacturing and facilities maintenance.
  • Travel to suppliers and sister facilities both domestically and internationally.
  • Other duties as requested.


Requirements:

Education & Experience:




  • BSME or AS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with (4) plus years experience with capital equipment expenditure programs, project management and implementation of equipment and processes. Additional courses in project management, statistics, database analysis an advantage.




Job Skills/Abilities:



  • Ability to handle multiple projects and daily activities.
  • Must be organized, resourceful, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must be highly organized and creative with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Must possess leadership ability, strong research skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have a demonstrated proficiency in hardware and software development and troubleshooting.

Must be able to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of the organization.
