Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology seeks a Capital Budget & Accounting Manager to maintain an institutional project database for preparation of the annual capital budget and multi-year plan. They will work with senior management on setting capital priorities and ensure that all projects are implemented consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the institution's policies and procedures. Transfers approved capital budget into Oracle through creation of individual accounts, access and security. Assist with the implementation of the capital asset module of a new accounting software.

They will complete month-end close process for fixed assets, capital projects, capital leases, right of use assets and liabilities and the annual year-end close. Tasks include reconciling sub-ledger and support documents to the general ledger, maintaining work in process/completed capital project analysis, preparing depreciation and amortization calculations, and preparing required journal entries. Supports the annual audit by preparing financial statement note disclosures and reconciling capital cash disbursements for financial statement cash flow reporting.

On a monthly basis, maintains and forecasts the capital budget, helps to develop and maintain internal budgetary controls and reporting mechanisms, and develops executive level capital budget reports. Additionally, supports quarterly Board of Trustees' report with updates on capital project spending and current budget status.

Incumbent will need to partner with other divisions to: update capital project timeline, confirm project scope, follow up on open purchase orders, reallocate resources while remaining within the overall targeted budget, and close projects. They will review all capital purchase requisitions as an approver to ensure that purchases are in line with NYIT policies, specific to the approved projects, and follow GAAP. Additional assignments as needed, including, but not limited to, survey participation, accreditation support, and participation in interdepartmental committees.



Qualifications

The selected candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with five plus years related experience. They will possess a thorough understanding of, and specific experience in, finance and accounting, along with a proven track record of delivering quality financial analyses and reports that achieve targeted goals, including superb organizational, creative thinking, and written/verbal communications skills. Additionally, experience using Workday or Oracle is preferred. This position is based in Old Westbury, but some travel to our Manhattan campus may be required

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.



Minimum Salary

USD $80,000.00/Yr.


Maximum Salary

USD $95,000.00/Yr.
