The position will be responsible for hardware design and development for health features, such as ECG, in the Apple Watch. The role's responsibilities will encompass health sensing circuit and system design, simulation and modeling, data processing/analysis, failure analysis, validation, manufacturing support and laboratory work, along with crafting well-documented specifications, rationale, and test limits.
Key Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience and proven track record in electrical or system hardware engineering.
  • Strong electrical engineering background on analog, mixed signal, system design, simulation and modeling.
  • Proficiency in SPICE, Matlab, Python, COMSOL, or similar simulation tools.
  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis. Experience in automation and data engineering is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as solid teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Experience in system engineering, machine learning or firmware development is a plus.
  • Experience in working with overseas manufacturers and vendors to drive failure analysis and streamline manufacturing is a plus.
Description
Conduct architecture design, simulation, modeling, board level circuit and system design for health sensing products in the entire lifecycle of a new product, from initial design and functional specification of new hardware features and overall architecture design all the way to support and validation of these features. Review schematics, layout and other design collateral for fabrication. Develop analysis and modeling tools for hardware performance, perform complex system level tests, enhance and resolve issues in existing products, and perform unit testing and end-to-end testing. Collect and process environmental and physiological data from users to draw conclusions, predict performance of new designs and components based on simulation and modeling tools. Translate feature requirements into electrical hardware specifications and validate performance against specifications. Drive the development of component and modules to meet pre-defined specifications. Analyze and leverage manufacturing data to improve quality and minimize defects. Drive failure analysis to understand root-cause and implement corrective actions. Author evaluation plans, technical documentation such as Engineering Requirements Specification (ERS), and aid in bring-up to deliver scalable solution to support Apple mass production in a high quality way. Up to 15% travel may be required.
Education & Experience
M.S. degree in electrical engineering, physics, or related field, or industry experience equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of relevant consumer electronics or research experience required.

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $121,000 and $230,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
