Conflicts Analyst - Laterals

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will complete computerized conflict searches for lateral associates, summer associates, paralegals, interns, contract attorneys, and Review Center attorneys and reviewers ("lateral candidates") to determine possible conflicts. In addition, this position will ensure the firm's database is accurate and up-to-date with respect to lateral candidates' potential clients and prior work history.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct conflict searches for lateral candidates with the appropriate internal and external databases.
  • Analyze conflict search results for potential or actual conflicts for Assistant General Counsel, Director of Conflicts, and Lateral Conflicts Manager.
  • Review lateral candidate questionnaires.
  • Ensure that all necessary information is obtained from the lateral candidate so that an accurate search can be completed.
  • Track the progress of conflicts resolution process to ensure timely resolution.
  • Ensure all information is accurate and available for review by Assistant General Counsel, Director of Conflicts, and Lateral Conflicts Manager on a timely basis.
  • Draft lateral hire or standard ethical screens.
  • Create records for all lateral hires that include potential clients and historical matter details to avoid conflicts of interest and prior work conflicts.
  • Provide customer service to the firm and the lateral candidate.
  • Review auditor response letters, as requested.
  • Assist the department in special projects and as necessary during peak times.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Previous conflicts experience desired and/or law firm experience preferred

  • Strong analytical and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to solve problems by choosing clear-cut alternatives.
  • Strong oral and/or written communication skills in order to solicit and communicate information effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to determine when input and support from other senior members of the Conflicts team or Assistant General Counsel is required.
