We are looking for an experienced and motivated candidate who will enjoy the hands on and troubleshooting opportunities involved in test and development. As a key contributor within our Product Development and Test team, you will be responsible for leading project testing, evaluating, and developing new and existing JLG's products to ensure the compliance, safety, and reliability from concept phase through to the manufacturing phase.

YOUR IMPACT

  • Support fellow Test Engineers / Test Technician through technical questions and guidance through the testing processes.
  • Understand the test plans prepared by Engineering and additionally the requirements to satisfy specific country Homologation requirements.
  • Develop project test plans with Project Engineers with assistance from the Test and Development leadership and the Reliability Engineers
  • Provide technical input for overall reliability engineering planning at JLG
  • Participate in Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), fault tree and safety analysis activities
  • Supervise and train one or more subordinates (Interns or Test Technicians) doing various testing tasks, as applicable and assist if necessary
  • Support the Test and Development process improvement activities
  • Areas you will test in this role:
    • Mechanical - stability, vibration, vehicle & component weights, braking, tractive effort / drawbar pull
    • Hydraulic - pressure, flow, oil temperature, function speeds and performance
    • Electrical / Electronic - continuity, voltage, resistance, power consumption and circuit performance
    • Structural - strain measurements and fatigue life predictions
    • Sound Level - pressure and power
    • Material - nondestructive inspections (inc. magnetic particle and dye penetrant)
    • Automated Rig Testing - using programmable controllers and monitors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 8-plus years related experience

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with electrification and electrical components
  • Knowledge of off-highway or agricultural equipment operations and application profiles.
  • Ability to use test related equipment such as hydraulic pressure transducers, flow meters, volt/ohmmeters, accelerometers, and displacement transducers would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work well individually and within a close-knit team of diverse backgrounds and experience.
  • Possess a strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and related systems.
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to write and use software suites VBA, VB.net, C++, MATLAB, Parker IQAN, PLC Ladder Logic, CANalyzer, KVASER, Somat Infield, nCode GlyphWorks, and others.
