Azure Data Architect, Lead

The Challenge:

For an organization to transform in today's digital world, it needs to properly collect, store, and organize its data. As a data architect, you know how to apply your creative-thinking and analytical mindset to help organizations manage their data assets. We're looking for an experienced data architect like you to deliver leading-edge solutions for Department of Veteran's Affairs Veterans Experience Office. As a data architect on our Department of Veteran's Affairs team, you'll use your extensive technical expertise to design data architecture solutions for cloud computing and storage, platform partnering, and self-service reporting. You'll resolve routine data architecture-related issues in collaboration with business analysts and technology teams by jointly developing user stories along with our business partners and development of data warehousing

In this role, you'll grow your technical expertise, apply best practices and use tools, including Microsoft SQL, SSIS, such as SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle, to design databases, build data models, conduct ETL processes, design and manage data warehouse applications, and optimize cloud computing resources. You'll perform as part of a high performing, self-organizing team as it designs, defines, develops, and tests cloud solution components. You'll problem solve alongside both clients and developers to ensure that requirements are met, and solutions are delivered. With your drive to establish processes and lead technological innovation, you'll make a lasting impact on the Department of Veteran's Affairs Data and Analytics Product Line. This position is open to remote delivery anywhere within the U.S., to include the District of Columbia.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience with cloud based data architecture and data warehousing

  • 5+ years of experience providing technical leadership in a Microsoft Azure environment

  • 2+ years of experience with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Synapse or Databricks

  • Experience with working as part of a highly technical, high functioning, fast paced, and highly self-organizing Scrum team

  • Experience with technical leadership, including problem solving, best practices, and optimization, within a multi-cloud platform environment

  • Ability to problem solve in real time alongside business partners, rapidly propose solutions, and build prototypes and solutions as part of a fast moving Scrum team

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience developing, problem-solving, and optimizing with Oracle Cloud Instance (OCI) Golden Gate

  • Knowledge of Agile project management within Jira and Confluence

  • Ability to work alongside multiple business partners to develop and refine user stories and to implement the technical solutions to the user stories developed across a multitude of cloud platforms

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering

  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure DevOps Certified Professional Certification

Salary for this position is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, location, the candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements. The proposed salary range for this position is outlined below.

Colorado: $104,100 - $212,800 (annualized USD)

New York (including New York City): $109,300 - $251,400 (annualized USD)
