What you'll be doing...

As a Principal Engineer-Technical Project Manager you'll be reporting to the Sr. Manager-Portfolio Management. You will be responsible for managing the Customer Experience portfolio working as an extension of the product team and interacting with GTS and business leadership to drive seamless prioritization of work, backlog management, robust financial and resource management and communication/change management.

You'll be responsible for managing and reporting the health of the project portfolio and resource capacity at the enterprise level. You create new or improve existing portfolio and project management, processes, practices, work products, templates, and tools to successfully achieve business objectives and quality project execution within the portfolio. Demand Managers work with IT leaders, managers, business analysts, Agile teams, customers, and stakeholders to implement the portfolio and project management practices, ensuring they are understood, adopted, and flexible in meeting the needs of users.

  • Centralizing and facilitating demand intake, baseline and governance gates.
  • Driving portfolio management processes to ensure strategic alignment on technologies and goals.
  • Developing reporting metrics and portfolio dashboards to allow for repeatable/predictable project/product release success and visibility into areas struggling with scope, schedule, resources or budget.
  • Socializing and coaches team members on the utilization of portfolio tools and processes.
  • Facilitating and confirming resource and budget planning with the Product teams on new demands and partners to sequence projects into the Portfolio.
  • Tracking and socializing budgets and dependencies.
  • Identifying dependencies and critical paths and develops processes to maintain dependency tracking between product roadmaps and projects in collaboration with management and project managers.
  • Improving and streamlining the portfolio and project lifecycle, by working closely with Product teams, leadership, user base and tools teams.
  • Identifying and resolving problems often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
  • Analyzing and optimizing the configuration of the Portfolio tool set to create added functionality.
  • Driving capacity planning for initial and ongoing identification of resource needs and scheduling that will be used for making critical portfolio decisions.
  • Evaluating and identifying areas for improvement in the project and program lifecycle and develops analyses and reporting to target and monitor improvement trends.
  • Collaborating to develop, manage, and optimize portfolio/program/project management methodologies and disciplines.

Where you'll be working...

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we're looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in a Portfolio, Program or Demand Management role.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in Portfolio and Project Management tools including but not limited to Clarity, Anaplan, Jira and Rally.
  • Experience in hands on program, project and/or agile management.
  • Good collaboration and conflict resolution skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong strategy management, analytical thinking, problem solving, learning agility, communication and collaboration skills are required.
  • Capability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities in a shared services organization.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of the need for an effective and forward thinking team by building productive partnerships with peers and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with people at all management levels.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude, self-motivated, responsible, conscientious, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively and make confident decisions under pressure.
  • Lean Agile Portfolio Management Experience.
