Urology Nurse Practitioner I/II - MED: Urologic Surgery - Sacramento Campus

The Department of Urologic Surgery in the School of Medicine provides state-of-the-art clinical care services, educates medical students, residents, clinical and postdoctoral fellows in urology, and conducts basic science and clinical research, including clinical trials. Our clinic offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options for a wide range of adult and pediatric urological conditions, such as urinary incontinence, prostate and kidney cancers, kidney stones, male infertility, pediatric urology and kidney dysfunction. Every member of our team is a respected leader in their field of expertise, combining excellent credentials and experience with superb clinical skills and the ability to apply minimally invasive and robotic techniques where appropriate. The clinic also serves as a referral center for urologic patients in northern California.

Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Urologic Surgery Attending, the Urologic Surgery Nurse Practitioner provides independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to adult and pediatric urologic patients and their families in the ambulatory setting and acts as a healthcare resource for other health care providers including nurses, residents and other ancillary staff.
Required Qualifications
*Applicants will be hired as NPI (new grad ) or NP II depending on qualifications and experience.*
NP I/II
  • Current AHA CPR/BLS Certification
  • National Nurse Practitioner Board Certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
  • Graduation with a Master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Possession of valid California RN and Nurse Practitioner license without restrictions
  • Furnishing license
  • DEA within 3 months of hire
  • Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
  • Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
  • Ability to perform patient procedures
NP II:
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Nurse Practitioner
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluoroscopy Permit
  • CITI certifications within three (3) months of hire if conducting clinical research involving human subjects
Special Requirements
  • Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • References reflect an overall meet or exceeds.
  • Ability to work overtime and work weekends and holidays
  • Manual dexterity to handle complicated medical equipment safely and effectively
  • This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
