Director of Merchandising-Portland Division

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Oversees allocation of projections to Division Sales Managers.
* Monitors performance relative to projections and drives corrective action: Sales/Profitability & Co-Op.
* Assesses results of each department and total for the division.
* Solicits research, benchmarks, external and internal performance as necessary.
* Chairs sales planning meetings and weekly ad meetings.
* Develops and drives merchandising strategy for division in partnership with Merchandising team.
* Provides input to Corporate on Corporate merchandising strategy.
* Attends key vendor promotion planning meetings.
* Drives market branding campaigns/programs (consistent with Corporate).
* Oversees division/market research.
* Reviews comments on current division performance from Division VPs of Sales and assists and responds appropriately.
* Manages advertising agencies and programs.
* Tours stores to assess overall implementation effectiveness.
* Monitors competitor advertising, promotion, marketing initiatives.

And any other job responsibilities/duties assigned by the division.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
* Education Level:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing or related field.

Experience Level:

5-10+ years of retail/category/marketing experience.

15 total years experience in grocery industry.

5 yrs experience managing people.

Skills and Experiences:
* Marketing experience in retail.
* Market research experience.
* Proven ability to develop merchandisers.
* Sales orientation experience.
* Arbitration/problem resolution.
* Good communication skills.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Vary depending on geography.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
* Work may be performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
* Must sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
* May spend long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
* May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
* Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
* Workday is fast paced, some evening and weekend work may be required.
