Learning Programs Specialist

UCAR is excited to announce the job opening for the Learning Programs Specialist. This position is responsible for designing, developing and delivering learning programs, resources, instructional experiences, and high-level communications to educate and develop internal stakeholders on Enterprise Information Technology solutions, related policies and business processes. It is also responsible for interviewing IT and business stakeholders to understand demand, evaluate audiences, build curriculum, and monitor the effectiveness of learning programs in support of new initiatives and continuous process improvements.

The Information Technology Project Management Office (PMO) provides integrated portfolio, project, and change management services to manage and enable execution of EIT-specific and organization-wide projects and change initiatives.

Through the PMO, EIT leadership defines, prioritizes, manages, and monitors EIT's project portfolio to ensure that projects are fully dimensioned, can be successfully managed, and have the appropriate resources in place to deliver strategic outcomes.

At UCAR|NCAR|UCP, you will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals conducting critical research and community outreach to solve complex Earth system science problems including climate change, air pollution, extreme weather, floods, drought, wildfires, and space weather, all with the goal of improving human life and reducing economic loss. Hiring Range: $83,181 - $135,169

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.*

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT AT UCAR

Here is a brief outline of what one would expect to be responsible for in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex online, classroom and blended instructional materials and learning programs to meet needs of projects and users.
  • Develop learning materials that fit into the existing learning framework and can be easily distributed to and used by all stakeholders; Write and maintain training materials such as intranet resources, workbooks, presentation materials, guides, reference sheets, instructional videos, online courses and a standard knowledge base.
  • Design and deliver classroom and instructor-led training sessions utilizing interactive training techniques to ensure learner engagement. Session options to include in-person, recorded, and virtual sessions, as well as "train-the-trainer" sessions.
  • Develop and support teams of local coaches and/or trainers to provide dedicated lab/program-specific support for business solution implementations.
  • Mentor other training staff working on other projects or efforts. Provide consultation and direction on appropriate learning methodologies, documentation and delivery standards
  • Develop and coordinate transition plans and provide training for user support and service desk teams with training videos, virtual training, and other types of training resources for end users to support self-service deployments.
  • Update learning program solutions and content as business processes and tools evolve and continuously improve.
  • Consult and collaborate with all levels of employees and management to facilitate, engage and positively influence desired outcomes.
  • Consult with all levels of EIT leadership to develop and deliver communications to EIT stakeholders on its services, initiatives, learning initiatives, and other activities.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with internal product leads, functional managers, subject matter experts and lab/program stakeholders as well as third-party vendors to plan, conduct, and analyze learning needs assessments resulting in long-term performance improvements.
WHO WE'D LOVE TO JOIN OUR TEAM

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in a relevant academic discipline (education, instructional design or STEM field), plus three (3) years of relevant experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree plus eight (8) years of experience

  • OR an equivalence combination of education and experience

  • Desired, but not required:

  • Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) through the Association of Talent Development (ATD)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of training techniques, needs assessments, instructional analyses, and instructional methods specific to implementation and adoption of modern technical business solutions.
  • Ability to rapidly develop and deploy instruction to support continuous improvement efforts, with a focus on staff self-service.
  • Ability to formulate and implement effective training plans/curriculum
  • Ability to conduct research-based pre- and post-program program surveys and analyze metrics to gauge success for training and learning programs, questions, and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Captivate, Snagit, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Powerpoint or similar tools.
  • Ability to engage audiences using in-person, audio, video, and virtual learning channels and presentations.
  • Strong technical aptitude, including solid understanding of basic information technology concepts.
  • Familiarity with formal change management methodologies and approaches, such as ADKAR.
