Position Summary |
The
RIS/
PACS and Diagnostic Imaging Systems Coordinator for our Diagnostic Imaging Service within the hospital, is primarily responsible for providing administration of all Enterprise Imaging applications currently used at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The Diagnostic Imaging Service is a full service imaging facility (CT,
MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Radiography, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound) utilized within both the small and large animal hospitals. This incumbent works independently to implement and maintain the Radiology Information System (
RIS) and Picture Archive and Communications System (
PACS). The employee additionally assists the College's IT staff with the integration of the various imaging applications with the Hospital's Electronic Medical Records system (VetView) and works with other clinical services as appropriate, to help integrate their imaging applications. This incumbent also assists with the selection, implementation, and integration of new and replacement imaging modalities and software applications related to imaging. This employee is also responsible for support of the radiologists' and cardiologists' diagnostic workstations that are utilized for study reporting. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Baccalaureate degree in a related field.
- Experience in the administration of PACS systems is preferred. "CIIP" certification (Certified Imaging Information Professional) or equivalent experience is also preferred.
- Experience with one or more radiologic modalities as a technical professional, including experience managing a group of radiologic technologists.
- Experience as an imaging informatics specialist, PACS administrator, and/or imaging systems support analyst, including experience managing junior support analysts.
- Experience with networks, IT security, HL7, and DICOM standards.
- Experience establishing direct, internet connections via LAN to LAN VPN technology, or other suitable network technology, to sites that are used for secondary consultations for the purpose of real time, consultation.
- Experience training a large client base (including radiologists, clinicians, residents, interns, students, diagnostic staff, and administrative support personnel), in the operation and use of RIS and PACS, including the creation and management of Policies and Procedures for operations within diagnostic imaging.
- Experience in administering a voice recognition dictation system.
- Experience implementing a paper-less diagnostic imaging workflow.
- Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and problem solving skills; proven ability to manage budgets and medical equipment procurement; proven skills to work as part of a team, capacity to satisfy customers, and the ability to enhance clinical information systems.

- Provide for the administration of all Enterprise Imaging applications currently used at the VTH, including: Hyland "NilRead" Viewer (a web based universal / diagnostic viewing application), Mach7 Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA), MedQ Q-RIS (Radiology Information System), and Antech Imaging Services (Cloud-based DICOM storage).

- Provide for the administration of various external Teleradiology reporting services, including submitting DICOM studies to their websites along with relevant clinical information, and posting their diagnostic reports to patients' records in RIS and Vetview.

- Resolve issues involving the uploading of external imaging studies from rDVM's and other academic institutions.
- Assist clinical researchers in organizing, uploading, and sharing imaging cases.
- Reconcile erroneous patient data, and image routing problems from the various imaging modalities.
- Administer and resolve issues related to the Siemens Syngo-Dynamics echocardiography archive and reporting solution.
- Set up new user access, assist with various report template modifications and measurement customizations.

- Assist in the administration of Dental Radiography systems, including study reconciliation.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the administration of the Draeger "Infinity" patient telemetry system, utilized by ECC clinicians and staff.
- Assist Orthopedics clinicians with the implementation and use of the "vPOP-Pro" web-based software application for orthopedic surgery planning.
- Assist clinicians with software installation and upgrades for the Osirix imaging application for Apple Mac computers.
- Provide support to Radiation Oncology for the Varian LINAC software applications (Eclipse and ARIA).
- Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting problems with the Haivision Media Platform (HMP) video capture and storage application. HMP is used extensively for capture and storage of Endoscopy and surgery procedures.
