Description The Polysomnographic Technologist (PSGT) works under the supervision of the Sleep Disorders Center Manager, and Lead Polysomnographic Technologist. The PSGT works independently during the day or night and conducts polysomnographic testing. The PSGT safely operates sophisticated medical equipment used to record sleep/wake physiology, explains procedures, prepares patients and applies recording devices. The PSGT monitors polygraph recordings, audio/visual equipment to ensure patient safety, test quality, sleep/wake data and other physiological events. The PSGT may work during the day and is responsible for assisting Lead Polysomnographic Technologist in scoring the sleep studies and preparing them for interpretation by staff physicians.
