About this Position:

The Electrical Design Robotics role provides high quality, on-time robotic hardware, software, and safety designs equipment to ensure stable new model and new technology introduction in all HDMA North American manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities include:



  • Develop strategies, targets, and schedules to deliver high quality equipment across HDMA manufacturing facilities.
  • Identify and manage project requirements such as technical criteria, investment, expense budgets, and manpower to achieve targets.
  • Communicate requirements to other team members for design, setup, and installation. Manage the overall execution of related milestones.
  • Create documentation deliverables for robotic system installation.
  • Support the project team with installation planning, schedule creation and coordination.
  • Perform or support simulation studies for robotic applications.
  • Support Electrical and Mechanical Manufacturing with system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Perform robot system evaluation checks and buyoffs at Honda and Robot vendors.
  • Perform robot programming in both online and offline scenarios.
  • Perform robot configuration and setup in both online and offline scenarios.
  • Arrange and manage appropriate contracted services support, as needed. Ensure all work meets or exceeds defined organization targets and Honda Standards.
  • Attend equipment specification and design reviews and provide technical advice.



Who we are seeking:

Required Work Experience:



  • 2 years with Bachelor of Science Engineering degree.


Required Education:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related Manufacturing discipline or can have the following degree/experience:

    • 2-year tech degree in automation or manufacturing or equivalent technical training program and 4 years' experience.
    • 8 years' experience on the job training in technical trade / industry.




Desired skills:



  • Microsoft Office Product proficiency, Robot CAD Simulation Proficiency.


Additional Position Factors:



  • Based on project needs, work in the engineering office at a desk station or the plant floor (75% Office Environment, 25% Manufacturing Floor).
  • Ability to support robot installations all over North America, including weekends and shutdown work in the plant. 40-50 hours per week, up to 20-40% weekends per year.
  • Work in all FRAME departments, WE(Weld), AF(Assembly), PA(Paint), ST(Stamping), POPA(Plastics).
  • Some troubleshooting or hands on work with the robot systems and automation can be strenuous, with long hours standing or moving around the equipment.
  • Willing to conduct physical confirmations in the manufacturing environment and conduct/debug on the manufacturing floor and / or at vendor sites.
